Nature or Nurture?

Good to see you here once again, O prober of my mind and day.
Are you well? Glad to hear it.

No? Seen better days?
Maybe this will cheer you up then...

Dad enters room and after general greetings are announced, the following conversation takes place:
Dad: Did you have a productive day?
Me: Yes. Work. All day.
Dad: ALL DAY? You? Never!
Me: I did! Yes! I work hard you know...!
Dad: Well. When you work, that is...

Me: The question is, do you enjoy your line of work?
Dad: That's a question for anyone really, isn't it? If you enjoy what you're doing, you're more productive. If you don't then you can't be more than mediocre and thats a bad thing. There's too much mediocrity in the world.
Me: Ahh, that's very anthropological of you!
Dad, laughing: Oh dear! Is it?
Me: Yes. That's the nurture side of the debate...
Dad: It's pretty sad that you know that, actually.

Me, thinking: Well, it is my degree! It's what I've been doing all day...

Later that evening...
Dad: So, will you do it?
Me: Maybe. Tomorrow. If I have time. Perhaps I'll get something together...
Dad: That's very noncommittal of you. Is that nature or nurture?
Me: It's nurture. I'm an innocent victim of the society around me; I'm completely blameless.

And with that, I must get back to the nature/nurture debate!
